Internet Scout Project Says Goodbye to NSDL Scout ReportsWith the most recent editions, the Internet Scout Project ends the NSDL Reports after four years of publication. We are very excited about our newest NSF National Science Digital Library-funded effort, the Applied Mathematics and Science Education Repository (AMSER), a new four-year project that will link community and technical colleges to online applied math and science resources via a web portal and complimentary services. Our goal is to make AMSER-- http://amser.org/ -- the same kind of high-quality source of information about online resources that the NSDL Scout Reports have been. As part of our effort to make AMSER useful and usable we have created an online survey -- http://amser.org/survey -- which will help us better understand how faculty and staff at community and technical colleges are currently using digital materials. We would encourage readers from these environments, as well as those from the rest of the education and library communities, to complete the survey. Your valuable feedback will help inform the work of AMSER and NSDL as a whole. If you have questions about AMSER or an interest in using AMSER in your classroom, please e-mail info@amser.org, or watch for information about the project on the Scout website at http://scout.wisc.edu/ -- where you can also find information about subscribing to our flagship publication, The Scout Report. Previous issues of the three NDSL Reports will continue to be available, as always, on the Previous Issues page. Below, you will find the original contents of this page, explaining the NSDL Reports, fully intact. Chris LongManaging Editor As part of the NSDL project (National Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education Digital Library), the Internet Scout Project's NSDL Scout Reports offer high quality information about online resources. Like our flagship publication, the Scout Report, our team of professional librarians and content experts locate, research, and annotate these resources for the reports. Their main goal is to provide academics, researchers, librarians, and the K-12 community with a fast, convenient way of staying informed of valuable online information without having them do sorting or searching themselves. Areas covered by each report include the following: NSDL Scout Report for Life Sciences NSDL Scout Report for Physical Sciences NSDL Report for Math, Engineering, and Technology Published bi-weekly on Fridays, the reports are available online and e-mailed to subscribers. The Reports for Life Sciences and Physical Sciences rotate each week with the Report for Math, Engineering, and Technology. Organizations are encouraged to link to this page or locally post the e-mailed, HTML version of the Reports to their Web sites, including the copyright notice. The NSDL project is funded by the National Science Foundation. |
