Cyberdog

Cyberdog is a Macintosh Internet access tool (browser, email, news, etc.). It is used with OpenDoc, an Apple component technology which integrates Cyberdog into the operating system. Integration enables users to drag and drop files from the Internet to the desktop. Cyberdog supports nearly all of the same features as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. A major advantage to Cyberdog over these two browsers is that it requires less memory.

Excite Spider [formerly Architext Spider]

The Spider is a Web robot--an automated program that gathers pages from the Internet. This product of Excite (formerly Architext) is an important part of the Excite Internet navigation service. The pages retrieved by the Spider are indexed on-the-fly by an Excite search engine. Then the index is made available to the end user. The Spider actually reads the pages as a normal browsers does. Lynx and MacLynx

For those not interested in waiting for graphics, Lynx and MacLynx, an otherwise full-featured browser, might be the answer. This text browser was once a product of the Distributed Computing Group within the Academic Computing Services of The University of Kansas, but is now supported and maintained by members of the LYNX-DEV mailing list. Lynx is currently available for VMS, Unix, Windows 95/NT, and DOS. A beta version has been released for Macintosh which contains a unique feature of speaking web pages via MacOS Speech Manager.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer is an excellent browser for Windows 3.x/95/NT, Unix, and Macintosh. It's easy-to-use interface and inclusion of features such as AutoComplete and Webcasting greatly increases browsing productivity. Furthermore, don't worry about missing out on dynamic or multimedia based sites since support for the latest technology continues to be included with each new version. Microsoft now has several different versions of Internet Explorer-all free. Keep in mind that the different versions are specific to each platform, and each has its own features.

Netscape Navigator

Netscape Navigator is a well known browser that does a fantastic job of integrating audio, video, 3-D, and animation. By being the first to incorporate these various types of multimedia communicational advantages through plug-ins, Navigator has easily become one of the top web browsers. An added reason for Navigator's great popularity is its ability to successfully develop its browser across all platforms nearly simultaneously. The "Netscape Navigator Family" contains various browser and/or internet dial-up packages. By having several options, special requirements in the way of security and optimum utility can often be met.
